Our Leadership

Fifth Avenue Chapel is led by a team of pastor / elders who take responsibility for pastoral care and much of the teaching ministry.

Gerald Risden

Jerry has been involved in the ministry at Fifth Avenue Chapel since his Sunday School days. It was there that he met the Lord Jesus his savior and was discipled by many godly people. By profession, Jerry has been a band director/instrumental music teacher in the shore area for many years. He has earned both a B.A. and an M.Ed. from the College of New Jersey and has done graduate work in Bible at Philadelphia Biblical University. He and his wife, Marilyn, have three married adult children and nine grandchildren.

Peter Bartlett

Peter was born and raised in New Jersey. It was while attending the Terrill Road Bible Chapel in Fanwood that he was taught and mentored by godly men and women, trusted Christ as savior, and committed his life to the Lord’s service. Following a year of missionary service he received formal education at both Emmaus Bible School and Monmouth College, following which he commenced a career in Christian publishing. He and his wife, Judy, settled at the shore in 1976 and have been in fellowship at Fifth Avenue Chapel ever since. They are both employed by the Neptune Township School District. They have three married adult children and three grandchildren.

Philip Parsons

Phil comes from Buffalo, New York. Church involvement and strong family values formed a spiritual foundation and Phil trusted the Lord as personal Savior at an early age. A teacher by training, Phil and his family left secular employment for missionary service in the Philippines. After 20 years at a school for the children of missionaries, he and his wife Mary returned to the US in 2006 and are currently serving the Lord at Christian Missions in Many Lands, a missionary service organization in nearby Wall Township, NJ. Phil and Mary have three married adult children and 12 grandchildren.

Steadmore McAnuff

Steadmore was born in Jackson Town, Trelawny, Jamaica. He grew up in a loving family that attended the Anglican church on Sunday mornings, and the local Gospel Hall on Sunday evenings. It was there that he learned about sin, heaven, hell and Jesus’ death on the cross. He accepted Christ as savior at age 18 and came into fellowship at Bethel Gospel Hall where he assisted with the Sunday School and youth work. Soon after he relocated to Kingston where he fellowshipped at Elim Gospel Hall and met his future wife. Steadmore and Joy emigrated to the United States in 1973, first living in Brooklyn and then at the Jersey Shore in Neptune, New Jersey. They have been members of Fifth Avenue Chapel since 1974 where they have faithfully assisted in various ministries. They have three grown children and three grandchildren.
